Reflection: JYJ's "In Heaven" in dedication to Ladies' Code EunB & RiSe

I desperately wish that the only reason why I heard of Ladies' Code wasn't initially because of EunB's death. An American friend of mine who is only faintly familiar with some of the K-pop greats such as Girls' Generation was actually the one to text me and inform me of the car accident, knowing how much I love K-pop. And you know what, that greatly upsets me because now listening to the music Ladies' Code released, I feel that they deserved much more attention and praise, especially with some amazing songs such as "I'm Fine Thank You", "SuperGirl", and "So Wonderful". I know that they were new to the scene but so are Red Velvet (nothing against them, I personally love them) so they could've and should've made it so much farther.

But now, it delights me to hear about all the success that K-pop fans of every fandom have been giving the group in honor of EunB and RiSe. It just proves that despite fandom feuds and competition, we can all join together to support the remaining members and their fans and family and pay our respects to the two beautiful girls. I've never been prouder to be a K-pop fan because of all the strength and love displayed during this horribly difficult time. We've given them everything they deserve.

For me, writing lyrics based on a subject that I'm emotionally invested in takes a very short amount of time as the lyrics are able to just flood out of me. Because of this, I was able to re-write "In Heaven" in just a few hours. Of course, I use an already translated version of every K-pop song I re-write, but those translations are very rough so I always end up modifying most lines so that it still connects with the original translation but doesn't sound as awkward.

So, writing the song was the easy part, yet hard because of the emotions that came with the words. Recording was also hard because I wanted it to be as good as it possibly could be to properly honor EunB and RiSe. I don't even think it's still at the level I want it to be at but I wanted to get the song out as soon as possible to show my support.

My heart still aches thinking that something so awful happened to Ladies' Code as whole, nobody deserves to have their life shortened so tragically like this. All my love goes out to the remaining members, the families of EunB & RiSe, and the fans of Ladies' Code. I can't imagine what it must be like to lose two people so close to them in such a short period of time, it seriously breaks my heart. For EunB & RiSe themselves, they not only have my love, but also my respect and admiration. They seemed like incredible girls who lived their life happily and I hope they've found each other in heaven and are still smiling together. They will never be forgotten and I hope they are still honored in some way every day.

RIP EUNB & RISE
